Letter From Fr. Andrzej

Updated March 25, 2020

 Dear OLP Parish Family,

As we learn to navigate our lives during these unsettled times, we continue to pray for everyone affected by the Coronavirus, especially those on the front lines. Please read this email carefully as it states important details and updates. We know this is an extremely stressful time in all of our lives on every level of our physical, mental and spiritual fronts.

We have recently been informed by Bishop Michael Sheridan, of some important changes in regards to upcoming Masses and parish life details which our Holy Father, the Diocese of Colorado Springs, and our own parish, are implementing. If we receive additional restrictions, we will inform you and adhere to the new guidelines.

Public Masses: There will be no public Masses and other liturgical services held at Our Lady of the Pines until further notice. This includes all upcoming Masses on March 29, April 5 (Palm Sunday), Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Video Recordings of Sunday Mass: We hope to continue to provide a virtual platform of Sunday Masses and live stream Holy Week Triduum Masses and services as well. We will keep you posted on details as they draw closer. Videos of past Masses can be seen on our website: www.OurLadyofthePines.org. We also want to give a special thanks to all those who have and are assisting us with our Mass recordings: Jim Schultz, Nicole Konz, Tyler Bonacquista, Doug Brummel, David Wilson, Deacon Bill Bollwerk, Cynthia Stalp and Jay Barnwell. Without their assistance, our recorded Masses would not be possible.

Sacrament of Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation will still be offered at Our Lady of the Pines at 3pm on Saturday. There will be special arrangements made to secure everyone’s safety. If you come, please park in the front parking spaces and someone will inform you how to proceed. According to the policy, there will be strict limits of no more than 10 people at a time entering the worship space.

Stations of the Cross: While we are not able to host Stations of the Cross on Fridays at this time (including Living Stations of the Cross previously scheduled for April 3), we do have our wonderful outdoor stations of the cross on the west side of the church. You are welcome to come and journey the Way of the Cross by yourself or with your family.

Sacrament of Confirmation: As indicated by Bishop Sheridan, all parishes in the Diocese of Colorado Springs have postponed Confirmation until further notice.

First Communion: First Holy Communion celebrations need to be postponed until such time it is safe to gather as a community at Mass.

Baptisms: Baptisms can still be celebrated with only the immediate family present and no more than 10 in number, are to congregate at one time. Please contact [email protected]

Anointing of the Sick: The sick may be anointed if they approach the priest prior to entering the hospital or other health care facility. The Sacrament may be given to those in immediate danger of death in their homes. Please contact the office if you or a family member is in need of this sacrament.

Faith Formation ministries: As directed by the Diocese of Colorado Springs, all formation gatherings are cancelled through at least March 31. We forecast this will be extended, so please stay tuned for updates. Thankfully, our parish empowers all parents to live out their call as the primary catechists in their children’s faith life. Families are reminded to continue with their Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, FUSION family activities, Sacrament preparation materials. Etc. Faith Formation families will be emailed with updates in this regard.

Parish Programming: All programming, meetings, practices and events are cancelled until further notice.

Staff: Our staff is working remotely as much as possible to safeguard their own health as well as the people they serve. Please pray for us as we all learn a new normal.

Finances: We are very grateful for all those who continue to support our parish by donating online at ourladyofthepines.org. We all will be facing financial challenges and we so appreciate your kindness and your generosity especially during this challenging time.

Office Hours: Until further notice our offices will be open from 9-3pm Monday through Friday. We do have a 24/7 office hallway that you can drop things off or pick things up, if needed.

Your needs: If you are need of anything, we are here to assist you as best we can. Please contact [email protected] if we can help you in any way.

Remember, we are all in this together. We are ONE body in Christ!

In Christ’s amazing love,

Fr. Andrzej
