Altar Servers

One of the ways that the youth of the parish can come and serve the Lord is by becoming an Altar Server.

What does an Altar Server do?
The two main duties of a server are to assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of Mass and help the people pray by your example.

Who can become an Altar Server?
Anyone who is in the 3rd grade or older and has made their First Communion.

What are some of the tasks performed by the Altar Server during the Mass?
The Altar Server:

  • Leads the Procession during Mass carrying either the Crucifix or the candles.

  • Presents the Roman Missal to the Priest for the opening and closing prayers.

  • Assists in setting and clearing the altar table.

  • Carries candles during offertory procession.

  • Assists the Priest in the washing of the hands.

  • Rings the bells during the preparation of the Eucharist.

  • Leads the Recession out of the Church carrying either the Crucifix or candles.

You will be contacted by one of our servant leaders, once your altar server training is completed you will be scheduled through our ministry scheduling program. Please ensure that your email address and phone number are current. You will be trained on the use of the scheduling program. Be sure to download the Altar-Server handbook see the link above.
