Doug and Jennifer Brummel have served as the Directors of Marriage and Family Life at Our Lady of the Pines since 2010, and together they aim to foster faith in family life every day. Doug also serves as the Executive Director of Evangelization and Family Life and assists all areas of Faith Formation ministries with support and visioning. Their pioneering and innovative Marriage and Family Life ministries include family-centered approaches for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Family-Centered Preparation Ministry for Confirmation through their original and high in demand Family Faith Formation Ministry “FUSION”. They have also debuted another original ‘station based’ Faith Formation Ministry implementation model ‘Voyagers” for children. Their pro-active comprehensive Family Ministry approach to parish families includes not only faith formation but reaches out to all the community with family friendly events such as Trunk or Treat, Family Christmas Pageants, Family Living Stations of the Cross and Family Friendly Vacation Bible School and marriage enrichment ‘Date Nights’.
Doug is the youngest of 7 children and was raised on a farm in northern Illinois. Doug received his B.A. Degree in Communications and Public Relations, and earned his M.A. Degree in Counseling Psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Doug has professionally served the Catholic Church since 1987 in a wide variety of capacities. He has worked as a Parish Youth Minister and was Director of a Christian Brothers Retreat house in the Diocese of Joliet Illinois.
He began his own family centered ministry, “Lighten Up!” in 1993. Since then his “Lighten Up!” inter-generational presentations have been welcomed in over 1000 parishes and conferences across the United States and Canada. For more on this national ministry please check out: www.dougbrummel.com
